"Trial is life for them. I don’t think people on the defense side know what they’re dealing with."

Nathan Koneru

Nathan Koneru is a native Houstonian – born and raised in Sugar Land.  He received his B.A. from Texas A&M University, and his J.D. from Baylor Law School. At Baylor Law, Nathan began developing litigation skills by participating in the school’s top ranked trial-advocacy program. He further trained these skills by completing his LL.M. (Masters of Law) in international litigation from Queen Mary University of London.

Nathan joined Kaster, Lynch, Farrar & Ball as an associate in 2018. He primarily represents individuals and families who have suffered catastrophic injuries during trucking, automotive and transportation-related accidents. Nathan routinely faces seasoned litigators representing some of the largest companies in the country, including Ford Motor Company, Cooper Tire and Wal-Mart. Despite his opponents’ size or pocketbook, Nathan has already demonstrated a track record of success, including:

  • Represented a client who required a right hip replacement after a high-speed collision with another vehicle that had failed to yield the right of way while crossing a highway. Without filing a lawsuit, Nathan settled with the defendant’s insurance company for the policy limits of $100,007 and then settled with the client’s insurance company for an additional $17,000 through the Underinsured Motorist policy (UIM).
  • Successfully persuaded the federal District Court of Nebraska to allow punitive damages in a case against Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Notably, this was only the second time that a court in Nebraska had allowed punitive damages as the Nebraska Constitution prohibits punitive damages except under very specific circumstances.
  • Using his extensive knowledge of international law and the Hague Evidence Convention, Nathan successfully persuaded a Florida state court to allow the firm and its experts to inspect a tire manufacturer’s tire plant in Qingdao, China. The Chinese tire manufacturer settled soon after the court’s ruling.

While courtroom success is undoubtedly important, Nathan stresses that advocacy first begins with his clients. He prides himself on always being available to clients to address any questions or concerns to help navigate them through an often complex and intimidating legal system. He tailors his litigation strategy to fit his clients’ definition of success.

When not practicing law, you can find Nathan exploring different countries, watching Aggie football games and teaching his two-year old nephew to become a life-long fan of the Houston Rockets, Astros and Texans
